Rev. Joseph Malloy, 71, Pastor Of St. Clement Church In Stamford STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Rev. Joseph J. Malloy, pastor at St. Clement of Rome Church in Stamford, died Saturday, Jan. 2. He was 71.He was born in Stamford on Feb. 21, 1944, to Joseph J. Malloy Sr. and Helen Gladys Bodetka Malloy. He attended Holy Name of Jesus and St. Basil's Prep School before enrolling at the St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield in 1964 and St. Bonaventure University in Olean, N.Y., in 1966, where he received an associate of arts degree and a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy. Grinnell Library Displays Painting Of Vintage Wappingers Falls New Year's WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- The Grinnell Library is displaying a painting showing New Year's Day in 1883 in Wappingers Falls.The painting was created by local artist Clinton Wilde Clapp. The view appears to be looking south down today's route 9D from Main Street. Clapp was born in Wappingers Falls in 1831. He had a technical education -- today he’d be an engineer. As a Sunday school teacher, he was noted for “chalk talks,” and when he retired in the 1880s, he took up painting. All of the 10 paintings the library knows about were done in 1883 and 1884. Man, Woman Injured In Drive-By Shooting In Bridgeport BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A man and a woman were hurt in a drive-by shooting near the intersection of Park Avenue and Lewis Street in Bridgeport on Saturday, according to the Connecticut Post. Motorcycle Club Donates Gift Cards To Female Vets In Wappingers Falls WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- Robert and Gary Simmonds and Maximo Aponte, along with Lauren Incontrera--Women’s Veteran Program Manager for the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System, came to the Castle Point campus in Wappingers Falls following a donation of 10, $25 gift cards to be used at a local department store. Administrator In Training Completes Field Work At New Canaan's Waveny NEW CANAAN, Conn -- Kelsey Painter, an administrator in training, has completed the first phase of her required fieldwork through a three-month, 450-hour internship at Waveny LifeCare Network of New Canaan. Duff Hails Elimination Of Tax On Propane For Generators NORWALK, Conn. -- Hailing it as an important pro-consumer initiative, State Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff (D-Norwalk/Darien) helped lead the passage of legislation eliminating the gross receipts tax on propane for electric generators. Runners Start Off New Year On The Right Foot At Brookfield Lions Road Race BROOKFIELD, Conn. — Pam Mannion’s husband runs, and so do her two sons. Just three weeks ago, the 52-year-old Brookfield resident decided she wanted to try running, too. Mannion began running on the treadmill at her gym and, encouraged by friends at the Woodbridge Running Group in Brookfield last week, ran 3 miles without stopping.
