Bill Clinton's Childhood Home Damaged In Suspected Arson CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – The childhood home of Chappaqua resident and former President Bill Clinton, a National Historic Site, suffered damage in a suspected act of arson on Friday morning in Hope, Ark., according to CNN.com. The fire in the back of the home was discovered about 3:15 a.m., and the local fire department put out the blaze quickly without the home suffering major damage. Investigators noticed a smell that was similar to accelerant when looking over the home, reported CNN.com. Scarsdale School Board Declines Proposal To Expand Busing SCARSDALE, N.Y. – A proposed expansion of the Scarsdale school busing policy was voted down during the Board of Education meeting on Dec. 14, according to Scarsdale10538.com. The proposal would have expanded the busing program to include transporting students who live 1.2 miles from their school, instead of the current 1.5 miles, the report said. Increased costs and more traffic were cited as two reasons the proposal was turned down, reported Scarsdale10538.com. Walter Fila, 84, Of Garfield GARFIELD, N.J. – Walter Fila, of Garfield, died Dec. 20. He was 85. Fila was born Jan. 16, 1931, in Sojkowa, Poland, to Jozef and Aniela (nee Bielen) Fila. He emigrated to the United States in 1986, settling in Garfield and working at Fantasia Sewing Company in Passaic as a machine operator before retiring. Fila was predeceased by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife Bronislawa, three children, Kazimierz Fila, Danuta Bekier and Joanna Wyrzykowski, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Saddle Brook.

Thomas J. McNulty, 48, was arrested by deputy sheriffs after a foot chase that started in the supermarket's parking lot and ended near Manchester Road.
