Croton Students Support Drug Prevention During Red Ribbon Week CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School and Croton-Harmon High School students in Croton-on-Hudson marked Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 26-30, with a number of activities that emphasized a drug prevention message. “The CHHS Teen Leadership Council stayed late on Friday night preparing for Monday’s Red Ribbon Week kickoff, decorating the main hallway red,” said student assistance counselor Kayla Martin. Greenburgh Students Learn About Nutrition, Fitness In Fun Program GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Greenburgh's RJ Bailey School and Woodlands High School had "PhUn" on Wednesday, when the high school students brought their knowledge about physiology to the younger students as part of Physiology Understanding Week. School Of The Holy Child In Rye Wins Cross Country Championship RYE, N.Y. -- School of the Holy Child's (SHC) Cross Country teams in Rye had a winning season.For the first time in SHC cross country history, the team earned the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) regular season championship title and the varsity team finished first in the championship meet. New Canaan CEO Died Of Acute Alcohol, GHB Intoxication NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The death of Mitchell Vazquez, who was found unresponsive on Sept. 13 in his New Canaan mansion, was caused by acute alcohol and drug intoxication, according to the New Canaan Advertiser. The death of Vazquez, 46, who overdosed on acute ethanol (alcohol) and gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), was ruled an accident, the chief medical examiner told the Advertiser. Sleepy Hollow Students Donate Blood To Phelps Memorial Hospital Blood Bank SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Dozens of Sleepy Hollow High School students, faculty and administrators gave blood Tuesday to the Phelps Memorial Hospital Blood Bank in Sleepy Hollow.They rolled up their sleeves, took deep breaths, and in some cases, closed their eyes. But the annual blood donation day was a success. In previous years, 50-60 students and staff members have donated their blood during the same drive. Norwalk Man Charged With Driving Drunk After Westport Crash WESTPORT Conn. -- A 39-year-old Norwalk man was arrested on drunken-driving charges after a crash on Saugatuck Avenue on Thursday night, Nov. 5, Westport police said. At 6:30 p.m., Westport officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident, police said. Officers determined that there were no injuries and began speaking with the drivers, police said.
