Godfrey Hlavaty, 92, Lifelong Stamford Resident STAMFORD, Conn. -- Godfrey A. Hlavaty (Barney), husband, father and grandfather, died Saturday at the age of 92. He was a lifelong Stamford resident and member of St. Bridget's Parish.  One of seven children, he was born Aug. 9, 1923, in Stamford, to the late Joseph and Anna Hlavaty.  He graduated from Stamford High School and at the age of 19 was inducted into the U.S. Army, serving as an infantryman (79th Infantry Division), in campaigns across Europe during World War II.  Returning to Stamford after the war, he married Blanche Monnard Oct. 25, 1958, and worked as a tool and die maker f…
