She has a bachelor's degree in English from Stony Brook University and a Master's degree in publishing from Pace University. She married with four teenage children and is a competitive runner and avid exerciser.

She was an active member of the Philippine Community in Norwalk and had also been an active member of Trinity St. Michael's Church. She was also a parishioner of Holy Family Church.
