Joaquim N. Lopes, 73, Longtime Danbury Resident
DANBURY, Conn. — Danbury resident Joaquim Nunes Lopes died on Wednesday, June 1. He was 73.
Born in Dornelas, Portugal, Lopes was a Danbury resident for the past 40 years and retired from Heli-Coil Company in 2006.
Lopes is survived by his wife of 47 years, Maria Celina de Andrade (Pina) Lopes; his daughter, Sonia Marisa Pina Lopes; his daughter, Maria de Fatima Lopes-Estanqueiro and her husband, Luis; and his grandchildren, Kyle and Alexis.
He also is survived by his sister, Augusta Pinto and his nieces and nephews.
Lopes was predeceased by his parents, Jose and Rosa (Nunes) Lopes.
Mark A. Harris Sr., 63, Norwalk Resident
NORWALK, Conn. — Norwalk resident Mark A. Harris Sr., died on Friday, June 3. He was 63.
Born in Norwalk, Harris was an accountant for South Norwalk Electric Works.
Harris is survived by his parents, Paul and Louise Harris; his wife, Elaine; his daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Vincent Condito; his son, Mark Jr. and his wife, Diana; and his son, Jonathan Harris.
He also is survived by his brothers, Timothy and David Harris; his sister-in-law, Kim Harris; his mother-in-law, Jane Coffin; his grandchildren, Mark III, Mikayla, Mackenzie and Vincent III, and several nieces and nephews.

Margaret 'Midge' Clifford, 89, Larchmont Resident
LARCHMONT, N.Y. — Longtime Larchmont resident Margaret "Midge" Clifford died Tuesday, May 31. She was 89.
Clifford was a parishioner of Saint Augustine's Church.
She was a gifted painter and artist, and she cherished the beauty of nature and animals throughout her life.
Clifford is survived by her son, Jim Clifford and his wife Mary Claire; daughter, Kathleen Gallo and her husband, David; son-in-law, Bruce Newman; and sister, Maribeth McCarthy. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Jeannette, Bill, Hilary, Peter, Stephanie, Matthew, Justin and Ashley.

Claire Hunter Mead, 94, Longtime Rye Resident
RYE, N.Y. — Longtime Rye resident Claire Hunter Mead died Tuesday, May 31. She was 94.
After graduating from from Mount Holyoke College, Mead worked in Washington D.C. for the U.S. Army Signal Corps in its cryptanalysis department, decoding Japanese messages.
After World War II ended, Mead returned to New York and was hired by the American Mercury Magazine, working as an assistant to the editor, Lawrence Spivak, at the time when he was recruiting senators, congressmen and other prominent figures to appear on his new radio program, "Meet the Press," which later became the popular …
