Carmel Beats Brewster In Emotional Weaver Girls Basketball Tourney Game CARMEL, N.Y. -- It was an emotional night at Carmel High School Tuesday evening as the Rams' varsity girls basketball team raced out to a big first-half lead over Brewster, and held on for a 50-43 victory in the eighth annual Ronnie Weaver Friendship Tournament. The tournament was created by 18th-year Carmel coach Dan O'Hare in memory of Weaver, an assistant coach from 2000 to 2007. Weaver died suddenly that year due to complications during surgery. New Rochelle Girls Beat Suffern In Overtime Thriller CARMEL, N.Y. - The New Rochelle High girls basketball team edged Suffern, 50-48, in overtime Tuesday evening at the eighth annual Ronnie Weaver Friendship Tournament at Carmel High School. Kayla Correa's 13 points led New Ro (6-1). Ronnie Weaver was an assistant coach to Rams head coach Dan O'Hare from 2000 to 2007. Weaver died suddenly in 2007 from complications during surgery - and shortly after O'Hare (who earned his 200th career win at Carmel) created the tournament to honor Weaver's memory.
