Registration Begins June 1 For Full Day Pre-K At Mount Vernon High School
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Due to the community's support of the 2015-16 school budget, the Mount Vernon City School District will now offer 54 full-day pre-K spaces at Mount Vernon High School. Parents must register their child with Frances Tarrant at Longfellow Elementary School. Spaces will be filled by lottery. Registration is also available for half day pre-K. YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Assemblyman Steve Katz, R,C-Yorktown, is calling on his colleagues to move Assembly Bill 4313-A out of the Committee on Ways and Means and bring it to the floor for a vote. The legislation, similar to legislation that passed the Senate unanimously earlier this week, would afford all veterans the ability to buy back up to three years in the state pension system. Man Driving Erratically In Yorktown Charged With DWI, Police Say
YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Kenneth Grossberger, a 64-year-old Cortlandt Manor resident, was charged with driving while intoxicated Wednesday, May 27, according to the New York State Police. Police were dispatched to find an erratic vehicle traveling on the Taconic State Parkway and after stopping the vehicle, identified the driver as Grossberger, who was intoxicated at the time, police said. Man Charged With Automobile Theft In Sprain Brook Parkway Incident
YONKERS, N.Y. -- George B. Smith, a 25-year-old Mount Vernon resident, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree on Saturday, May 23, according to the New York State Police. Troopers patrolling the Sprain Brook Parkway in the area of mile post marker 3.4 observed a vehicle stopped on the shoulder of the Parkway and a male throwing items into a wooded area. IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- A man suffering from serious injuries after he was ejected from his vehicle him during a two-car accident Sunday morning in Irvington has died, according to multiple reports. According to police, a Mazda and Toyota crashed into each other on the Saw Mill near Mountain Road and the I-87 interchange, reported lohud.com.
