Born in Newark and raised in Hudson County, Jerry DeMarco is a 38-year veteran of the news industry and a renowned breaking news reporter. He has covered local, county and state police, as well as the FBI, ATF and other federal agencies.

DeMarco joined Daily Voice in 2015 after six years running Cliffview Pilot, one of the nation's few independent breaking news sites. As an independent publisher, he helped establish Local Independent Online News, a national trade organization.

Prior to launching his own site, DeMarco served as a reporter for the Bergen Record, Stamford Advocate, Rockland Journal News, News Tribune, and Trenton Times.

DeMarco has won national recognition for his investigative work, including Clarion, Heywood Broun and Deadline Club awards. He's changed public policy and managed several major projects -- including one that helped put a corrupt public official in federal prison and another that forced a sitting New Jersey attorney general from office for her participation in a Bergen County traffic stop involving her boyfriend.

DeMarco regularly lectures at a graduate course in media relations at Fairleigh Dickinson University and previously was an adjunct professor at Lehman College in the Bronx.

He has a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Peter's University in Jersey City.

Pedestrian, 57, Struck, Injured Crossing Street In Midland Park A pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by a car crossing a street in Midland Park. The 57-year-old man was in the crosswalk on Paterson Avenue at Goffle Road when he was struck around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, Midland Park Police Chief Michael Powderley said. The driver remained at the scene and was given a summons for failing to yield to a pedestrian, the chief said. The pedestrian was taken to the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood with pains in his ribs and a cut on his face, responders said.

Found! Paterson Kids Return Home Two Paterson schoolchildren who'd gone missing on Sunday have both returned home, authorities and loved ones said on Wednesday, Dec. 20. Amileon Johnson, 12, returned home on Tuesday and Emmanuel Frierson, 14, was back hours later, they said. Port Authority police and the NYPD assisted in the search.

Soccer Brawl: 25 Players Involved, Police, Ambulances From Various Bergen Towns Respond A brawl between two adult soccer teams brought police and ambulances from several area towns to Superdome Sports in Waldwick late Tuesday. Bergen Prosecutor's Lieutenant Charged With Stealing Coke, Fentanyl From Evidence A Bergen County prosecutor’s lieutenant stole cocaine and potentially deadly fentanyl from his department's evidence room, then tried to return the drugs in “substantially different” condition after superiors got wise, state authorities charged. Driver Hospitalized After Fair Lawn Crash Dumps Load Of Lumber A driver was injured when his truck slammed into a guard rail, dumping a load of lumber near a busy Fair Lawn intersection. The Blue Ridge Lumber driver was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center by a Fair Lawn EMS ambulance following the crash on Plaza Road near Berdan Avenue shortly before 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18. Fugitive Sought: Accused Pedophile Living In Cliffside Wanted For Assaulting Fairview Pre-Teen A 52-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a pre-teen in Fairview multiple times fled the country and has been in Guatemala for at least the past few months, a reliable source told Daily Voice. Beginning Driver, 16, Rolls SUV In Glen Rock Pinball Crash A 16-year-old driver with her learner’s permit was hospitalized after a pinball crash in Glen Rock flipped their SUV, authorities said. Update: Second Man Charged In Rape, Sodomy Of Bergen Woman A second man has been charged with raping and sodomizing a woman with an accomplice in Elmwood Park more than 17 months ago. The victim had told authorities that she was raped by two men who also penetrated her orally and anally while holding her down on a bed in her apartment on July 7, 2022, according to a criminal complaint filed in Superior Court in Hackensack.
