Born in Newark and raised in Hudson County, Jerry DeMarco is a 38-year veteran of the news industry and a renowned breaking news reporter. He has covered local, county and state police, as well as the FBI, ATF and other federal agencies.

DeMarco joined Daily Voice in 2015 after six years running Cliffview Pilot, one of the nation's few independent breaking news sites. As an independent publisher, he helped establish Local Independent Online News, a national trade organization.

Prior to launching his own site, DeMarco served as a reporter for the Bergen Record, Stamford Advocate, Rockland Journal News, News Tribune, and Trenton Times.

DeMarco has won national recognition for his investigative work, including Clarion, Heywood Broun and Deadline Club awards. He's changed public policy and managed several major projects -- including one that helped put a corrupt public official in federal prison and another that forced a sitting New Jersey attorney general from office for her participation in a Bergen County traffic stop involving her boyfriend.

DeMarco regularly lectures at a graduate course in media relations at Fairleigh Dickinson University and previously was an adjunct professor at Lehman College in the Bronx.

He has a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Peter's University in Jersey City.

One Dead In Wyckoff House Fire A grandmother who was pulled from a Wyckoff house fire on Sunday died at the hospital, authorities confirmed. Virginia D'Amelio Ingenito, 79, was found unresponsive by Wyckoff police officers who were the first responders at the fire on Meer Avenue just off James Way behind Route 208 just after noon Nov. 5, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Luxury NYC High-Rise Manager Stabbed By 2 Robbers Outside PalPark Home A manager at a luxurious midtown-Manhattan highrise was stabbed in the leg while fighting off two robbers who'd jumped him outside his Palisades Park home Friday night. Clifton Car Burglar Pulls Knife On Victim Trying To Stop Him A thief who broke into a Clifton resident's locked vehicle pulled a knife on him before fleeing with his power tools, authorities said. It was shortly before 5 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, when the blare of a vehicle alarm awoke the owner, Police Lt. Robert Anderson said. Two Hospitalized In Three-Vehicle Pileup In Fair Lawn At least two people were hospitalized following a three-car pileup late Saturday in Fair Lawn. Broadway was temporarily closed in both directions just after 11 p.m. Nov. 4 so that members of the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps could tend to the wounded and the wreckage could be cleared from the intersection at Plaza Road. Paterson Detectives Capture Accused Killer, 28 Police detectives from Paterson put down another homicide with the arrest of a 28-year-old city man accused of gunning down another last month. John McFadden was arrested Friday and charged with murder and weapons offenses for the shooting death of Eric Boone, 34, shortly after 6:30 a.m. Oct. 1. Tractor-Trailer Ditches Off Route 46 A tractor-trailer driver survived a crash on Route 46 in Palisades Park that nearly crushed the cab of his rig. The driver was headed west on Route 46 near the bridge over East Homestead Avenue when he veered off the road and the cab came loose as it headed partially down a wooded embankment shortly after 4 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4. Paramus Resident Rescues Elderly Neighbor From House Fire A Paramus home was filling with smoke when a kind and courageous resident rescued an elderly neighbor. Tractor-Trailer Rams Sedan Off Route 208 Two people were hospitalized Friday night after a tractor-trailer exiting Route 208 in Glen Rock struck a sedan. Witnesses claimed the driver of the rig ignored a stop sign exiting the southbound highway at Harristown Road and struck the Honda Civic around 6:45 p.m. Nov. 3.
