Two People Critical After Struck By Vehicle Outside High School: Newark PD Two people are in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle outside Arts High School in Newark on the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 23, authorities said. At 10:39 a.m., police responded to the 500 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard on a call of two pedestrians struck, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Newark Man Fatally Struck by Paterson Police Officer: Prosecutor A 51-year-old Newark man was killed after he was fatally struck by a vehicle driven by a Paterson police officer on the evening of Monday, Oct. 21, authorities said. The police officer struck a pedestrian as they were exiting the Paterson Police Department parking lot at Memorial Drive, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In Charge Isa Abbassi said. 18-Year-Old Arrested After Throwing Firework, Causing Brush Fire: Mt Olive PD An 18-year-old Flanders resident was arrested and charged on Monday, Oct. 21, after causing a brush fire by throwing a firework, authorities said. At 4:35 p.m., police responded to Flanders Road for a report of an active brush fire, Mount Olive police said. A passerby extinguished the fire prior to the officer’s arrival, police said. Vernon Woman Falsely Claimed Her Car Was Stolen: Franklin PD A 54-year-old Vernon resident was arrested last month after she falsely told police her car was stolen, authorities said. On Saturday, Sept. 28, Dawn Flanagan told officers her car was stolen, Franklin police said in a release. Surveillance footage showed Flanagan driving her own vehicle from the area where she claimed it had been stolen with Joseph McGaughran following behind in his vehicle, police said. Two-Month-Old Dies In Elizabeth: Authorities A two-month-old infant died in Elizabeth on Monday, Oct. 21, authorities said. Police responded to a report of an unresponsive infant at Pingry Place, a spokeswoman for the city said. Both parents were working, and their eldest child was watching his younger siblings, including the infant, when the infant had a medical emergency, authorities said. The infant was pronounced dead at Trinitas Hospital, authorities said. The Division of Child Protection and Permanency was notified, authorities said. No foul play was suspected and the incident remains under investigation, authorities said.

14-Year-Old Charged In Fatal Jersey City Shooting: Prosecutor A 14-year-old Jersey City boy was arrested and charged as a juvenile with murder on Monday, Oct. 21, in connection with a shooting that killed a 19-year-old on Friday, Oct. 11. At 5 p.m., Jersey City police responded to shots fired in Garfield Avenue and found Kashyne Grant suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment, where he was pronounced dead just after 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14. The 14-year-old was charged with murder and multiple weapons offenses, Suarez said.

Driver Was Spinning Tires Before Killing NJ Lawyer In Nashville Crosswalk: Police A 58-year-old New Jersey attorney and lobbyist was killed in Nashville, TN on Saturday, Oct. 19 after he was struck by a vehicle, authorities said.
