Two Teenagers Intentionally Set Fire At Plainfield Playground: Police A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old boy were recently arrested and charged with setting a fire at a Temike Park Playground in Plainfield last October, authorities said. On Wednesday, Oct. 23, officers responded to a report of a fire engulfing the playground, Union County police said. The blaze was extinguished by firefighters, who determined the fire was an act of arson, police said. The structure sustained significant damage, police said. The teenage boys were charged with arson and criminal mischief, police said. They were released to their guardians pending a court appearance, police said.

Man Stole Cooking Oil From Flanders Pizzeria: Mount Olive PD A 29-year-old Somerset man was arrested and charged after he was caught stealing cooking oil from a pizzeria in Flanders on Saturday, March 8, authorities said. At 10:16 a.m., officers were investigating a report of a suspect driving a white van who was attempting to take cooking oil from businesses, Mount Olive police said. Mother Charged After 6-Year-Old Dies In Newark: Prosecutor A mother is facing charges after her 6-year-old daughter died in Newark on Monday, March 10, authorities said. At 10:30 a.m., detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office responded to 19 Stratford Pl. and found a 6-year-old girl dead, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said. Zyhirah Hall, her mother, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said. Pedestrian Found Underneath Ford Dies In Jersey City Crash: Police A 73-year-old man died after he was struck by a vehicle in Jersey City on the morning of Monday, March 10, authorities said. Man Fatally Stabbed In Long Branch, Two Men Charged: Prosecutor Two men were arrested and charged after a 35-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Long Branch on Friday, March 7, authorities said.
