Bodycam Footage Shows Arrest Of DWI Driver In Wild Jersey Shore Boardwalk Wreck With His Dog
Newly-released bodycam footage shows the arrest of a wrong-way DWI driver who police say nearly hit multiple people before crashing into another vehicle then landing on a boardwalk along in a Jersey Shore town. As previously reported by Daily Voice, Jason Nagy, 44, of Avon-by-the-Sea, was arrested on Thursday, July 11, the Belmar Police Department. This is Nagy's third DWI: The first was in Toms River in March 2006, and the second was in Avon-by-the-Sea in June 2014, New Jersey court records show. Route 17 Reopens After Early-Morning Car Fire In East Rutherford
A portion of Route 17 was closed early Tuesday, Aug. 6 after a vehicle erupted in flames. The East Rutherford Fire Department extinguished the fire that destroyed a Mazda sedan in the northbound lanes outside of the Lowe's complex around 8 a.m. There did not appear to be any injuries.

The Port Authority Police Department of New York and New Jersey is arresting toll cheats and issuing summonses at a record pace this year, and plans on ramping up its already-intense crackdown on sly motorists in the coming months, according to a news release issued Tuesday, Aug. 6. In the first six months of 2024, the PAPD has cited more than 4,800 motorists who owe a combined total of more than $4.2 million in unpaid tolls and fees, the agency said. A tractor trailer overturned on the NJ Turnpike Tuesday morning, Aug. 6 in Newark. According to the NJDOT, it happened on the the western spur's exit ramp to Interchange 15E/Routes 1&9 around 9:30 a.m. As of press time, the left shoulder and ramp were both partially blocked.

Boy, 17, Ejected, Killed In Lehigh County Rollover Crash: Coroner
A 17-year-old boy was killed in a late-night crash on Monday, Aug. 5 in Lehigh County, the coroner said. Javian Alexander Rivera, of Lower Macungie, was the passenger in the car the rolled over on the 2000 block of Orchard Drive around 11:55 p.m., Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio said. Police have released additional information in this week's drownings in a Camden County lake. Officers were called to Penbryn Wildlife Management area for two missing swimmers around 2:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, Winslow Township Police Chief Donald Lemons said.
