Oscars Now Requires Voters To Watch Nominated Films Before Voting: Report Ahead of the 98th Annual Oscars, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has implemented a rule that seems straightforward: Voters must actually watch all the nominated films before they vote in a category. Academy members will only be able to access final round ballots for categories in which they’ve confirmed they’ve watched the nominated films, Variety reported. $927 Million In Medical Debt Erased For 629K NJ Residents: See If You Qualify Many New Jersey residents grappling with medical debt can breathe a huge sigh of relief. Gov. Phil Murphy announced on Monday, April 21 that 629,000 New Jersey residents will see a combined $927 million in medical debt retired through the state’s partnership with Undue Medical Debt, a not for profit. The state used $5.8 million in American Rescue Plan funds, teaming with Undue to purchase medical debt from RWJBarnabas Health, the state’s largest healthcare provider and from the secondary debt market. Oxon Hill Man Hurt After Car Strikes Toll Barrier In New Jersey: Police A 23-year-old Maryland man was injured after his car struck a toll barrier on the Atlantic City Expressway on Saturday, April 19, authorities said. At 2:44 a.m., troopers responded to Hamilton Township after a Kia Sportage, traveling westbound, struck the attenuator at the Egg Harbor Toll Plaza, then impacted the concrete curb and concrete barrier, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State police said. The driver, a resident of Oxon Hill, sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

Victim ID'd In Fatal Trenton Double Shooting: Prosecutor A 38-year-old Trenton resident has been identified as the man killed in a fatal double shooting on Saturday, April 19, authorities said. At 4:14 a.m., officers were in the area of East State Street and heard multiple gunshots, Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta Marbrey said. ICE Nabs Man Convicted Of Sex Crimes In Jackson: Authorities A Mexican man previously convicted of a sexual offense was arrested by immigration enforcement earlier this month in Jackson, officials announced on Thursday, April 17. Ramon Cruz, who was living in the United States illegally, was apprehended on Tuesday, April 8 by Immigration and Customs Enforcement Officers and FBI Newark, federal authorities said.
