Bank Robbery Update: Suspect Nabbed After Targeting Long Island Chase Branch A suspect has been arrested in connection with a bank robbery on Long Island. The incident happened at around 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at a Chase bank in Selden, located on Middle Country Road. Suffolk County Police said the robber told a teller that he had a weapon and handed the employee a note demanding cash. Matchup Set: GOP Picks Candidate In NY Special Election For Seat Held By Santos, Report Says New York Republicans have nominated Nassau County Legislator Mazi Melesa Pilip as their candidate for the state’s special election to fill George Santos’ vacant House seat, NBC News reports. The Greene County wreck happened just before 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, in the town of Windham on Mitchell Hollow Road. 'Angelica's Law' Honoring Late NY Teen Doles Stiffer Penalties For Repeat Reckless Drivers Angelica Nappi’s death won’t be in vain. The Long Island 14-year-old – who grew up in Holbrook and died at the hands of a reckless driver in February 2008 – was the inspiration behind “Angelica’s Law,” signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul this week. It decreases the number of prior license suspensions needed to qualify for first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony. Long Island Mother Admits Suffocating Twin Toddler Daughters: 'She Executed Them' A Long Island mother has admitted to suffocating her twin toddler daughters. Tenia Campbell, age 28, of Medford, pleaded guilty to two counts of murder in Suffolk County Court on Monday, Dec. 11 in connection with the girls’ killings in June 2019. Prosecutors said Campbell’s mother called 911 at around 2:40 p.m. on June 27, 2019, saying Campbell was driving around in the family van threatening to kill her daughters. Full Closures Scheduled For Portion Of Long Island Expressway Scheduled roadwork could spell delays for Long Island drivers in the coming days. Both directions of the Long Island Expressway are slated to close nightly at exit 48 in Huntington beginning Wednesday, Dec. 13 and lasting until Friday, Dec. 22. Police are working to track down two burglars who smashed their way into a luxury boutique in the region before making off with tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise.
