She spent 17 years at Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida as a general assignment reporter, crime reporter, entertainment reporter and restaurant critic. She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Man Arrested For Assaulting Officer, Another Man At Long Island Marina, Police Say A man was arrested on Long Island for allegedly resisting arrest and injuring an officer in the process. The incident took place in Oyster Bay around 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9. Nassau County Police Department officers responded to a 911 call for a disturbance at the Theodore Roosevelt Marina located at 5 Bay Ave. Upon arrival, it was determined that Omar Romerobulnes, age 33, address withheld, was involved in a verbal altercation with a woman and a physical altercation with a man at the scene, police said. Flu Season is Already Widespread Across New York, Health Department Says As cooler weather has moved in across New York state, cases of flu have already become widespread. State health officials say the pesky, and sometimes deadly, virus is rapidly ramping up with 44 counties reporting flu cases in the first weeks of October. Statewide, 596 cases of the flu have been confirmed, compared to only 150 in the same time period a year ago. Suspect Nabbed For String Of Burglaries In Hudson Valley Following a month-long investigation, a Hudson Valley man has been arrested for burglary and a host of other charges. Leonard L. Taylor, age 66, of Middletown, was arrested on Monday. Oct. 3, by the Village of Walden Police after a brief foot chase in the village. CT Man Sentenced To Prison For Sexually Assaulting Minor A 28-year-old man has been sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting a minor after pleading guilty to the charge. New Haven County resident, Christian Diaz, age 28, of Meriden, was sentenced Wednesday, Oct 5 to eight years in prison, followed by 10 years of probation, John Doyle Jr., New Haven State’s Attorney Diaz pleaded guilty in New Haven Superior Court in August to sexual assault, illegal sexual contact, and risk of injury to a minor. Man Who Stabbed Lyft Driver In Darien Nabbed Out-Of-State, Police Say A man who police have been searching for months in connection with the stabbing of a Lyft driver in Fairfield County has been captured. The incident took place on Monday, June 27 in Darien around 10:30 p.m. in the area of West Avenue. ID Released For Fairfield County Man Struck, Killed In Hit-Run Crash Police in Connecticut have identified a Fairfield County man who was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash. John W. Capodanno, age 64, of Bethel, was killed around 9:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 6 in Litchfield County in the area of 177 Danbury Road in New Milford. According to New Milford Police, Capodanno was crossing the street when he was struck and killed by a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse driven by Maria Bosch, age 41, of New Milford. Hewlett Man Sentenced For Fatally Stabbing Victim In Heart On Street Corner A Long Island man has been sentenced to prison for driving a steak knife into the heart of another man, killing him. Keith Pooler, age 56, of Hewlett, was sentenced on Friday, Oct. 7 to 25 years to life in prison for the murder of 49-year-old Andre Garry, of Hempstead in June 2020, said Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly. Seen Him? Alert Issued For Missing Hudson Valley 11-Year-Old Police in the Hudson Valley are asking the public for help locating an 11-year-old boy who is missing. Rockland County resident Justin Chen, of the village of Nyack, was last seen around 3 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 6 at his home. Det. Sgt.
