Newark Teacher Dies Days After Being Struck By Vehicle Outside High School: Authorities A 66-year-old Newark teacher died Saturday, Oct. 26, after being struck by a vehicle at Arts High School on Wednesday, Oct. 23, authorities said. At 10:39 a.m., police responded to the 500 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard on a call of two pedestrians struck, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Woman Airlifted In Route 80 Crash: Njsp A woman had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital after a crash on Route 80, the early morning of Monday, Oct. 28, state police said. At 2:56 a.m., a Madza SUV was traveling westbound on Route 80 in Rockaway Township when it entered the right shoulder and crashed into the back of an unoccupied truck, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The driver, a 28-year-old Kenvil woman, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.
