Armed Robbery Suspect Captured At Store In Peekskill: Police Thanks to quick action from a store clerk, authorities were able to quickly close in and capture an armed robbery suspect in Northern Westchester. The incident happened on Wednesday, Aug. 9 around 8:45 p.m., when Peekskill Police officers responded to a business at 1014 Main St. after an employee had activated a panic alarm. According to Lt. Drill Alarms Sound At Hillview Reservoir In Yonkers If you hear the sound of sirens ringing out near a reservoir in Westchester, don't be alarmed, as it is just part of a scheduled drill. The sirens are a part of the Hillview Reservoir Quarterly Alarm Test, which was scheduled to take place in Yonkers on Thursday, Aug. 10 around 10 a.m., the city's police department announced. Dryer Fire At School In Somers Prompts Emergency Response Emergency crews had to race to a school in Northern Westchester after a dryer fire caused a haze of smoke to fill the building. The incident happened on Wednesday, Aug. 9 just after 9:45 p.m., when members of the Somers Volunteer Fire Department were sent to the Lincoln Hall Boys' Haven at 145 Route 202 on reports of smoke in the building. According to the fire department, arriving crews found a light haze and burning smell inside the school and soon found a contained dryer fire in the building's basement. Beloved Mother, Volunteer From Mount Kisco Dies At 57 A beloved wife and mother from Northern Westchester is being remembered for her willingness to donate her time to countless volunteer works and her devotion to her family. Mount Kisco resident Beth Mannion died on Saturday, Aug. 5 at the age of 57 after a battle with ovarian cancer, according to her obituary.
