Firefighters Face Exploding Fireworks While Battling Blaze At Cortlandt Home A firefighter was hospitalized following a blaze at a Northern Westchester home that caused fireworks inside the residence to explode, complicating the response. The fire happened at a residence in southern Cortlandt on Croton Lake Road on Wednesday, July 5 just after 3:30 p.m., according to the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department. Once crews arrived at the home, they quickly began putting out the flames, which were centered in the residence's garage underneath the living area. New Lidl Lidl Supermarket Coming To Yonkers A new supermarket that will be located in Westchester is in the planning stages. The new Lidl discount store would be located in Yonkers in the Central Plaza Shopping Center on Central Park Avenue, according to a Lidl spokesman. The company, which operates out of Germany, is currently in the site approval process with the city and says that it is too early to offer a specific timeline for when the store would be constructed and opened. Somers Resident To Compete On Jeopardy! A man from Northern Westchester will soon be making an appearance on the popular quiz show Jeopardy! Somers resident and medical student Alex Gordon will compete in an episode of America's favorite quiz show airing on Thursday, July 6 on ABC.
