Brookfield Policeman Helps Tame Brush Fire At Pocono, Silvermine Roads BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- One of Brookfield's commanding police officers, Maj. James Purcell, was seen helping to put out a brush fire in Brookfield.About 11 a.m. Friday, both the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company and Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department Candlewood Company Inc. were dispatched to the fire in the area of Pocono and Silvermine roads.  Both fire companies made quick work of the brush fire, reducing the amount of property damage and doing so without injuries.
