Carole S. Hunter, 70, Of Westport WESTPORT, Conn. -- Carole S. Hunter, 70, wife of Fred C. Hunter and longtime resident of Westport, died Sunday, Dec. 13, in Norwalk Hospital. She was born Sept. 11, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Paul and Betty Lou (Cuthbertson) Harper. She was a substitute teacher in Westport for 20 years. She also was a seamstress. Darien Children Honor Veterans' Graves As Part Of 'Wreaths Across America' DARIEN, Conn. -- Over 25 Darien YMCA Piranhas swimmers, parents and coaches joined the efforts of Wreaths Across America and placed wreaths on the graves of veterans this past Saturday.Thanks to local collections and the generosity of an anonymous donor--a wreath can be placed on the grave of every veteran buried in Darien's Spring Grove Cemetery. Norwalk Fire Department Provides Christmas Tree Safety Tips NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Fire Department is providing Christmas tree safety tips.It's important to be fire smart this holiday season. A small fire that spreads to a Christmas tree can grow large very quickly. The National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) reports that one of every three home Christmas tree fires are caused by electrical problems.
