Mahopac Falls Fire Department Sponsors Blood Drive PUTNAM, N.Y. -- The Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department hosted a successful blood drive on Sunday.The purpose of the event was to let residents know who is on the other side of 911, and who will be coming and what they will be coming with in case of an emergency. Bedford Street In Stamford Closing For Weekend For Arts & Crafts Fair STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Stamford Police Department is warning the public that Bedford Street will be closed due to the Arts and Crafts Fair this weekend. The closure will be from North Street to Walton Place. Beginning at 5 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, that area will be inaccessible until 9 p.m. Sunday.  Police ask residents to please plan travel routes accordingly.

Hallstrom, 64, of Fairfield, died Saturday, Aug. 29. Hallstrom was born in Bridgeport and was a lifelong area resident.  He was an employee of DE'Santie Tire Co. He also worked at Hine Brothers for many years.  He was a past president of the Easton Volunteer Fire Department.  He is survived by his daughter, Kristen M. Pietro Fiorita, 86, Longtime Darien Resident DARIEN, Conn. -- Pietro Fiorita, a resident of Darien since 1976, died Sunday, Sept. 13. He was 86.He was born on Feb. 9, 1929, in Rose, Cosenza, Italy.  He married Anna Concetta Leone on Nov. 5, 1950, in Italy, and was married to her for over 60 years. Italy is where they had their first son, Angelo.  Fiorita spent years in Venezuela, having left Italy to find work after the war.  There they had their three daughters, Sarina, Carla and Viola.  He and his wife came to the U.S. and settled in Danielson on July 27, 1968, where they worked as pasta makers. When he arrived in the States, he w…
