Lenape Talk Hosted By Elmwood Park Centennial Committee
ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. -- The Elmwood Park Centennial Committee is sponsoring a free presentation on the Lenape Indians Tuesday, Nov. 10. Anthony De Condo, author, educator and archaeological advisor for the Paterson Museum, will make a presentation that “brings history to life” by providing insight into the everyday activities of the tribe. He’ll talk about basic wigwam construction, fish trap use and artifact discoveries of these early New Jersey inhabitants. GARFIELD, N.J. -- "Look at me! Look at my face!" the mother of a Garfield victim shouted at a Peruvian national before a judge in Hackensack sentenced him to 72 years in prison for molesting three girls ranging in age from six to 13 -- including a pair of sisters. Route 202 In Mahwah Remains Closed After Roadway Collapse
MAHWAH, N.J. -- The intersection of Route 202 and Franklin Turnpike at the railroad trestle in Mahwah will remain closed at least until Monday while repairs continue. A manhole-cover-sized hole opened in the road Thursday morning, authorities said. A 20-inch storm drain pipe under the roadway collapsed along with the surrounding roadway, Mahwah Police Chief James Batelli told Daily Voice shortly after the incident. Park Ridge Updates Leaf Collection Program
PARK RIDGE, N.J. -- Beginning Monday, Nov. 2, the Park Ridge DPW will make its third pass through town picking up leaves. Crews will start on the west side in Zone 2 and continue through Zones 2 through 5. They'll then move to the east side, starting in zone 6 and continuing with 7 through 9. The vacuum crew will start on the west side main roads, continuing through to the east. Although volume has been light so far, the DPW says it'll become heavier -- and take longer to get through each zone. Bond Gang Associate From Teaneck Remains Jailed After Drug Sentence
TEANECK, N.J. -- A convicted associate of the infamous James Bond Gang from Teaneck was sentenced to time served on a cocaine selling charge but wasn't released form the Bergen County Jail because he's awaiting trial in a major burglary case. Jamelle Singletary, 27, had pleaded guilty earlier this fall to selling drugs to an undercover investigator to spare his girlfriend, Janay Cole, time behind bars. Cole, in turn, got probation for her role in the drug network -- including neglect for leaving her 7-year-old child in a room where cocaine was being packaged. Cole is also a defendant in the…

Leonia Police Chief Sets Zero Tolerance Policy For Egg Throwers
LEONIA, N.J. -- Mischief Night in Leonia last year was the quietest that Police Chief Thomas Rowe could recall in his 25 years with the department -- and he's hoping for a repeat performance.
