East Bergen's Palisades Rotary Club Installs New Members LEONIA, N.J. -- The Rotary Club of the Palisades welcomed three new members: Matthew Latham, David Braun and Joanne Megargee. Latham is the new director of the Leonia Library; Braun serves as Leonia's historian, and Megargee is superintendent of the school district. The three were installed in a ceremony at the Gotham City Grill by Peter Wells, the Rotary District governor. The Rotary Club of The Palisades serves Edgewater, Leonia, and Palisades Park. Woodland Park Boathouse Renamed For Passaic Leader WOODLAND PARK, N.J. -- Passaic County freeholders dedicated the Depression-era Barbour Pond boathouse Saturday to Pasquale “Pat” Di Ianni, a civic leader who dedicated much of his life to promoting county parks and historic sites. Di Ianni was a Clifton attorney whose pride in the Great Falls led him him to the floor of Congress, where he testified in favor of creating the Paterson-Great Falls National Historical Park. Man Accused Of Bringing 100 Pounds Of Pot Into Teterboro Offered 10 Years TETERBORO, N.J. -- Bergen County prosecutors have offered a San Francisco man 10 years in prison -- with no parole for eight -- if he pleads guilty to bringing 100 pounds of marijuana into Teterboro Airport three years ago. Meanwhile, his lawyer said he'll seek a reduction of the $1 million bail for Bryan Brent Calcott, 36. According to prosecutors, Calcott arrived at Teterboro on a chartered flight from Oakland with two suspicious large boxes on Dec. 12, 2012. Wallington Has Passaic Flood Information Session WALLINGTON, N.J. -- An informational meeting on flood preparedness will be conducted Thursday in the Wallington Civic Center. Representatives of the N.J. Army Corps of Engineers, the state Department of Environmental Protection, and U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell’s office will be present to give information and ask any questions on flood risks in the Passaic River basin. New flood maps have been developed that will help property owners assess flood risk and plan how to limit potential property damage. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. The civic center is at 24 Union Blvd.

A judge ordered William Slaughter, 23, held in the Bergen County Jail until she decides what to do, after authorities described a troubling mental history. Slaughter lured a 6-year old boy from a recreation program to his apartment last year after sexually assaulting the boy’s 13-year old sister, a grand jury indictment alleges.
