YONKERS, N.Y. -- Volunteers from Roosevelt High School recently assisted builders from Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity and the volunteers built a home for a veteran in Yonkers.

Girls Leadership Members Hit The Streets To Clean Up Graffiti In Stamford
STAMFORD, Conn. -- Members of the Girls Leadership program went to work and cleaned up the graffiti in Stamford last week. Girls Leadership, a collaboration between the Stamford Police Department and the DOMUS foundation, removed the graffiti from businesses at 2228 Summer St. and 116 W. K-9 Officer Demonstration At Trumbull Library
TRUMBULL, Conn. -- The Trumbull Police Department will give a K-9 officer demonstration Nov. 2 in the Trumbull Library's Community Room. A K-9 officer will demonstrate his dog's training for police work at 11 a.m. A $10 fund-raiser pizza and salad lunch with dessert and beverages will be served. New Rochelle Public Library Hosts Window Painting And More
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The New Rochelle Public Library will hold the BID Family Fun Fall Festival mask making and window painting events on Oct. 24. Families with children ages 8 through 12 are invited to paint seasonal Halloween and Thanksgiving scenes on the windows of downtown businesses. Pequot Library Concludes Art Show With Great Lawn Party
SOUTHPORT, Conn. -- The Pequot Library will conclude its 18th Annual Art Show with an Artists and Collectors Party Friday. Art work created during the Plein Air Pequot Competition, as well as the 250 pieces on exhibit throughout the weeklong art show, will be available for viewing and purchase. NEWTOWN, Conn. -- University of Connecticut law professor Kent Newmyer will discuss the mystery of Aaron Burr Nov. 9 at C.H. Booth Library. The third vice president of the United States, Burr infamously killed rival Alexander Hamilton in a duel. Newmyer will explore Burr's life, his enmity toward Hamilton and whether he was a patriot or traitor. The presentation begins at 7:30 p.m.
