Croton-Harmon Fifth-Graders Perform At 9/11 Memorial
CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School fifth-grade students honored community heroes on Sept. 11 with a performance of "Together We Can Change the World." “The beautiful words and songs remind us all of the sacrifices that came before us and the importance of our freedom,” said Superintendent Edward Fuhrman. The students sang at the Croton-on-Hudson/Buchanan/Cortlandt 9/11 Memorial Service at Croton Landing Park. Build With Legos At Kent Public Library
PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Kent Public Library will host a Lego creation event on Saturday. Participants will build based on a chosen theme, and the creation will be put on display. Registration is not required. Building with Legos will continue at Kent Public Library on the third Saturday of each month.

Fundraiser Aims To Help Tuckahoe Student Battling Rare Disease
TUCKAHOE, N.Y. -- A fundraiser was recently launched for Tuckahoe Middle School student Jenna Velez, who is battling the rare condition amyoplasia arthrogryposis multiplex. "I grieved and prayed for strength to get through the day and after she was born all the hurtful things people would say to me," said her mother, Arelis. "I've heard it all but now Jenna does. LEWISBORO, N.Y. -- Meadow Pond Elementary School in Lewisboro has a new library: Max's Little Free Library. The library is a small outdoor structure filled with books for borrowing and sharing. BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- Three Briarcliff High School seniors have been recognized as finalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corp. “Congratulations to Emma Burns, Feroze Mohideen and Sabine Poux for qualifying as semifinalists in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship competition,” said BHS Principal Debora French. YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Support Connection Inc. will hold extended hours leading toward its annual cancer walk on Sunday, Oct. 4. Support Connection will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays through Sept. 18.
