Senior Moments Presents WW II Love Songs At Darien Library
DARIEN, Conn. — Senior Moments will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II with a concert at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Darien Library's Louise Parker Berry Community Room. The concert will include popular love songs from the era and a lecture that delves into the story and spirit of the songs. Senior Moments is a conversation and coffee program designed for senior citizens.

Valhalla Academic Challenge Team Competes In Nationals
VALHALLA, N. Y. -- Valhalla High School's Academic Challenge Team headed to Washington, D.C., to compete in the small-schools category of the national competition over the weekend. “We’re proud of them,” said teacher David Mintzes. "This year has been great. They’re a lot of fun to work with. Ossining Couple Highlight 'Way Of St. James' At Library
OSSINING, N.Y. -- Ossining couple Bill and Marleny Farrell will discuss walking the "Way of St. James" at the Ossining Public Library's Budarz Theater at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The couple will discuss the experience of walking the Catholic pilgrimage and the decision and preparation involved. The pilgrimage is a 500-mile walk over the course of 18 days to the tomb of St. James at Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain.

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Eastchester Middle School's eighth-grade band was awarded a gold rating at the New York School Music Association's ensemble competition on May 20. It was the band's first trip to NYSSMA. Instructors Mark Dodge and Don Olsen led students from Eastchester at NYSSMA.

Kids To Boost Skills, Confidence At Paws For Reading
KENT LAKES, N.Y. -- The Kent Public Library will host the Paws for Reading Program every Tuesday and on select Mondays in June. The program is designed to give children ages 6-10 confidence and improve reading skills by reading aloud to a dog from Therapy Dogs International. Registration is mandatory for the free program. Scarsdale Seniors To Visit Caramoor For Spring Trip
SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- The Scarsdale Parks and Recreation Department will have its final spring trip for seniors with a visit to the Caramoor Center for Music and Arts in Katonah at 9:40 a.m. June 3. The trip begins with a performance of Spanish flamenco dancing and music in the courtyard followed by a docent led tour of the historic Rosen House.
