DARIEN, Conn. — Longtime Darien resident Muriel (Cissie) Wakeman died on Friday, April 29. She was 97.
She was born on May 2, 1918, in Stratford, Conn., to Frank C. and Martha Swindells Evitts.
Wakeman attended the University of Connecticut in Storrs and the University of Bridgeport before earning an associate's degree from Edgewood Park College in New York.
After college, she worked as a journalist at The Fairfield News, where she met her husband, Norman Burr Wakeman.
She later served as clerk of probate in Stratford.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Longtime Bridgeport resident Rev. John Chalupa died on Monday, May 2. He was 100.
Born in Lansford, Pa., Chalupa was a resident of Bridgeport for more than 60 years before moving to Middlebrook Farm assisted living facility in Trumbull.
He attended mission school in Olomouc, Czechoslovakia for two years, graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa. and gained his Bachelor Degree and later his Masters of Divinity Degree from Mt. Airy Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pa.

Angela Fucci, 98, Harrington Park Resident
HARRINGTON PARK, N.J. — Harrington Park resident Angela Fucci (Conti) died Monday, May 2. She was 98.
She is survived by children Carl and John Fucci and his wife Linda; sister Anna Saltalamacchia; and brother Eugene Conti. She also is survived by granddaughter Tara Savino and her husband Joseph' grandson Jon-Paul Fucci and wife Kimberly; and great-grandchildren Sophia, Lea, Emily and Nicole.
Fucci was predeceased by husband Carl; and brothers Bart, Frank, Anthony, John, William and Joseph Conti.
