Fairfield Firefighters Respond To Steam Leak At Fairfield Warde High FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A leaking steam pipe forced the evacuation of Fairfield Warde High School on Tuesday afternoon. At 11:55 a.m., Fairfield’s Emergency Communication Center received a water flow alarm indicating an activated sprinkler system at Fairfield Warde High School. Fairfield Fire Companies 2 and 3 responded and when they arrived the building had been evacuated and the alarm was sounding. Bridgeport First-Grader Gets Special Ride To School In Fire Truck BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – First-grader Liza Powell got a special ride to school one day last week in a fire engine from the Bridgeport Fire Department. Liza won the trip through a Black Rock School fundraiser as part of Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 5-11. The raffle proceeds went to fund school field trips. She bought $5 worth of tickets using quarters from her piggy bank. Her mother, Sue Ellen, gave $5 and her uncle Paul pitched in $10, netting 24 raffle tickets.
