Shirley R. Walker, 88, Of Poughkeepsie
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Shirley R. Walker, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Vassar Brothers Hospital.
Walker was born June 27, 1927, to Albert and Estelle (nee Butler) Conrad.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband Edgar, companion Tom Hogan and brother Albert Conrad.
She is survived by three children, Stephen and his partner Darcee Vorndran, Jeff and his wife Diane, Kathy Ann and her husband John Harmuth; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Lasko.

New City Fire Department Elects Officers
NEW CITY, N.Y. – The New City Fire Department held its annual election of officers on Wednesday night.
All officers will serve two-year terms. That includes new chief Dennis Rodriguez, who replaces James Avaras.
The officers are: First assistant chief, Timothy Kunz; second assistant chief, John Latanzio; captain, Richard Willows Sr.' first lieutenant, John Pawelczyk; second lieutenant, Michael Sansone; chief engineer, Steve Dorfman; and assistant chief engineers, Alan Handsman, Richard Willows Jr., Eric Zweigbaum and Matthew Murphy.
Terms will begin in January.
Sister Catherine Heilig, 93, Of Ossining
OSSINING, N.Y. – Sister Catherine Heilig, of Ossining, died on Wednesday, Dec. 2. She was 93.
Heiling was born on Oct. 6, 1922, in Brookville to Peter and Anna Heilig. She graduated from Hicksville High School and worked at Grumman Aircraft and the K&O Co. in Bethpage.
She entered the sisterhood in 1949, going to Bolivia in 1953 to teach and various other Christian Community duties. She returned to the U.S. and the Maryknoll Sisters Center in 2002.
A vespers service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 4:15 p.m. in the Chapel of the Annunciation at the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Maryknol…
