She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. CT High School Placed On Lockdown After Student Reports Gun In Backpack A Connecticut high school was placed on lockdown after a student reported seeing a firearm in a backpack. The incident took place in New Haven County around 1:50 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9 in Naugatuck. Hudson Valley Man Sentenced For Sexual Assault Of Woman A Hudson Valley man has been sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting a woman in 2017. Sullivan County District Attorney Meagan Galligan announced that Rockland County resident Jose Gomez, age 40, of Haverstraw, was sentenced to 20 years in prison plus 15 years of post-release supervision on Friday, Nov. 4, following his convictions for criminal sexual act and assault. Bridgeport HS Evacuated After Pepper Spray Incident, Police Say Police are on the scene at a high school n Fairfield County after receiving several calls regarding the accidental discharge of pepper spray. The incident took place in Bridgeport at Bassick High School, around 8:15 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 10. Preliminary reports indicate the building was being evacuated and numerous students were affected by the substance, said Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management for Bridgeport. Woman Killed After Car Leaves Roadway, Crashes Into Pole, Trees In Hudson Valley A woman was killed after her 2012 Subaru Forester left the roadway and struck a utility pole and several trees in Hudson Valley. The crash occurred in Dutchess County around 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 in the town of Clinton, on Slate Quarry Road. An initial investigation determined Lisa M. Drozdowski, age 52, of Clinton, was heading eastbound on Slate Quarry Road and left the roadway for unknown reasons, said Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police. Blaze Breaks Out At Home Under Construction In Greenwich The fire marshal's office is investigating an early morning blaze at a Fairfield County home that was undergoing renovations. The fire took place in Greenwich early Thursday, Nov. 10 at the home on Palmer Hill Road. Roosevelt Man Sentenced For Brutally Beating Gas Station Worker In Face With Metal Tool A Long Island man has been sentenced to prison for violently robbing and assaulting a gas station attendant in 2018. Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Missing Man Screaming For Help Found After Falling On Steep Hiking Trail In Hudson Valley A Hudson Valley man who was reported missing by his wife after he failed to return from a walk was found a day later after a jogger hear his screams. Man Killed After House Fire Breaks Out In Hudson Valley A Hudson Valley man was killed during a large house fire overnight. The fire took place in Orange County around 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8 on Babes Lanes in the town of Newburgh. 64-Year-Old Seriously Injured In Hit-Run Amityville Crash Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a Long Island man. The crash took place in Amityville around 8:45 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8, on Merrick Road near Bayview Avenue. According to Suffolk County detectives, James Agostino was riding a Huffy bicycle eastbound on Merrick Road when he was struck by a vehicle described as a dark-colored sedan.
