Roofer Dies, Second Critical In Fall From Maywood Job Site, Police Say
A roofer died and another was critically injured after falling from a roof in Bergen County Wednesday evening, April 23, officials said.
The incident happened Wednesday evening, April 23, in the 600 block of Maywood Avenue in Maywood, according to Chief Terence R. Kenny of the Maywood Police Department.
Police received the 911 call around 6 p.m., Kenny said in an update Thursday morning.
“A roofing company was working at the location when two workers fell from the roof,” Kenny said. “One of the individuals sustained critical injuries, while a second worker suffered a head injury.”

Cops ID Man, 40, Crushed By Car In Clifton: 'Tragic Accident'
Police have identified the 40-year-old man fatally crushed by a vehicle in Clifton on Wednesday, April 23.
Freddi Gonzalez, of Paterson, was found unresponsive under a vehicle in the parking lot by officers responding to the scene at 810 Bloomfield Ave., at approximately 6:30 a.m., Clifton PD Lt. Robert Anderson said.
Medical interventions were unsuccessful and Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene, Anderson said.
"Although the investigation is ongoing, at this time, this appears to be a tragic accident," Anderson said.

A 63-year-old Bergen County man has been arrested on child pornography charges, authorities announced.
James T. Reilly, of Edgewater, used the Internet to view, download, possess, distribute, and share items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent children, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
The findings were announced following a raid of Reilly's home Wednesday, April 23, the prosecutor said. Reilly was arrested in Paramus and charged with second-degree distribution of child pornography and third-degree possession of child pornography.
