Croton-Harmon HS Tennis Player Brendan Stierli Named All-League
CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Croton-Harmon High School tennis player Brendan Stierli was one of several Croton players voted All-League in Section One Athletics this season. The tennis team also was awarded the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Scholar Athlete Award. Stierli's league record is 11-1 and 12-3 overall, while the team's league record is 10-2 and 12-2 overall. Matt Sullivan was named captain for next year by the coaches, and Stierli's was voted as their second captain.

Walden, Pines Bridge Schools In Yorktown Host Art Show
YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- More than 200 students at the Walden and Pines Bridge Schools at Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES participated in the "Everyone Is an Artist" art show. “We didn’t have a vision of what the end result was going to be. No matter how it comes out, it is a representation of the student,” said art teacher Jesse Steiner. Steiner used empty boxes from dozens of new computers as bases for students to create portraits using string, glue and paint. Poughkeepsie Schedules Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The City of Poughkeepsie's annual Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular will take place Saturday, July 2. Residents can best view the show from Waryas Park for free, or purchase tickets to watch them from the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum or the Walkway Over the Hudson. The spectacular will begin at dusk at approximately 9:20 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, July 3.

Air Quality Alert Issued For Connecticut
DANBURY, Conn. -- The air quality may be unhealthy for "sensitive groups" from Sunday, June 19 through Tuesday, June 21, according to a forecast by Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. “We are expecting air quality that will impact our most vulnerable residents, including children, the elderly and those with respiratory disease such as asthma,” said Commissioner Robert Klee. “Since it is Father’s Day weekend and we’re issuing an air quality alert, we urge all ‘Dads’ to take the weekend off from cutting the lawn – to minimize any health impacts on themsel…

Easton's South Park Avenue Bridge Narrows To One Lane
EASTON, Conn. -- A lane closure is in effect for the South Park Avenue bridge near Riverside Lane, according to the Easton Courier. The bridge is currently open only to single, alternating one-lane traffic and will remain that way for the foreseeable future, the Easton Courier reported. The Easton Public Works Department is analyzing long-term solutions, said the Easton Courier. Waryas Park Hosts Free Pops For Pops Concert
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Bardavon will present a free Pops for Pops concert at Victor C. Waryas Park on Sunday, June 19. FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — The official start of summer will be previewed this weekend by the perfect weather for cookouts, swimming and more outdoor fun, according to a forecast from the National Weather Service. The perfect forecast calls for sunny highs of 82 on Saturday, with more sun on Sunday with a high of 80.
