Environment Group Will Sue Over Rise In Sturgeon Deaths From Bridge Work Environmental watchdog group Riverkeeper has filed a notice of intent to sue over an increase in the deaths of Hudson River sturgeon that it says have been caused by construction of the new Tappan Zee Bridge, according to a story on lohud.com. Both the New York State Thruway Authority and Tappan Zee Constructors LLC are specifically named in the notice, lohud.com said. The organization said last month that 122 sturgeon, 46 this year alone, had been killed since work on the bridge started in 2012. In comparison, just six fish were reported dead in between 2008 and 2011, lohud.com said. Read…

John J. Patchen, 78, Of Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. -- John J. Patchen of Norwalk, died on Friday, Dec. 18 at the age of 78. He was the husband of Marie (Antoinette) Passarelli Patchen for 56 years. He was born in Norwalk on Jan. 16, 1937, the son of the late James J. Patchen, Sr. and Elvira Tuozzola Patchen, and has lived there all of his life. He was a graduate of Fairfield Prep, class of 1955, and Fairfield University, class of 1959. He was a self-employed independent Title Examiner. Ox Ridge Kids Club In Darien Gives Holiday Party For Norwalk Family Agency DARIEN, Conn. -- The children of Ox Ridge Kids Care Club in Darien spent months collecting gifts, making decorations and preparing for the annual holiday party for the Norwalk Family and Children's Agency that they host. The Ox Ridge Kids Care Club is the community service arm of the PTO. The mission is to inspire kids to help others through volunteerism. It supports Norwalk Foster Care Families and Save the Children. The holiday party had roughly 220 in attendance. Girl Scouts Learn Science, Math And More In Visit To Sikorsky In Stratford STRATFORD, Conn. -- Over 350 Girl and Boy Scouts across Connecticut camped out at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford for the 15th Annual Camp Sikorsky.The group was welcomed on the first night of the event by Judy Bankowski, vice president and chief information officer of Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. Wooster Food Drive Collects 192 Turkeys For Danbury Food Pantry DANBURY, Conn. -- The Wooster School's turkey drive collected 192 turkeys for the Daily Bread Food Pantry in Danbury.The turkey drive involved the collective efforts of families from throughout Wooster’s Upper, Middle and Lower Schools, as well as staff and faculty, alumni and the board of trustees.
