Several Local Fire Districts In Poughkeepsie Elect Commissioners POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Commissioners were elected in several local fire districts in Poughkeepsie on Tuesday, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.In the Fairview District, two seats were decided. Aldo Milanese defeated incumbent Virginia Buechele in a race for a five-year term. Milanese received 109 votes. Buechele had 85. In an uncontested race, Ron Diaz was elected to a two-year term with 167 votes, the Poughkeepsie Journal said. Authorities Investigate Cause Of Briarcliff Manor Pool Pavilion Fire BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- Authorities continue to investigate what caused the fire that destroyed the Briarcliff Manor pool pavilion on Saturday night, according to an article on lohud.com.The fire started at around 9 p.m. Saturday, engulfing the two-story structure on Pleasantville Road near the pool. 2 New Westport Firefighters Graduate From Recruit Program WESTPORT, Conn. -- Two new members of the Westport Fire Department were among the 51 candidates who graduated from the Connecticut Fire Academy Recruit Program.The graduation took place Friday, Dec. 11, at Welte Hall on the campus of Central Connecticut State University in New Britain. Bethel Resident Roxanne Doyon Becomes Mrs. Connecticut BETHEL, Conn. -- Bethel resident Roxanne Doyon was recently named Mrs. Connecticut and will compete for the title of Mrs. International next summer, according to The News-Times.Doyon, 45, co-owns Connecticut Martial Arts in Danbury with her husband. She is a fifth-degree black belt in taekwondo, The News-Times said. The mother of two grew up in New Jersey, where she won the title of Mrs. New Jersey in 2005.
