Bethel Police Department To Hold Open House For Proposed New Station BETHEL, Conn. — The Bethel Police Department will host an open house of the proposed new police station, according to a story in The News-Times. Tours of the existing building will be offered from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, with an informational session at 6 p.m. During that session, the chief and other commanding officers will be available to answer questions about the $14.5 million plan, The News-Times said. Fairfield Woman Wins $10,000 In 'Lucky Holiday' Lottery FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield resident Krista Grant won $10,000 in the "Lucky Holiday" lottery. She purchased her ticket in Westport.After a particularly stressful day at work, Grant of Southport stopped at a nearby convenience store to cash in a $3 prize winning “Cashword” ticket. Watch Christmas Tree Lighting, See Santa At Veterans Park In Shelton SHELTON, Conn. — There will be a second annual Community Tree Lighting at Veterans Memorial Park in Shelton, along with a performance by "Center Stage" and a special appearance by Santa at 5:30 p.m. Friday.All families are encouraged to bring their own ornament to help decorate the tree at this free event. The Boys & Girls Club of Lower Naugatuck Valley will be selling hot cocoa and baked goods. All proceeds go directly to the club. Walter Panas H.S. Students Provide Thanksgiving Meals To Homeless CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- Twenty-eight students from Cortlandt's Walter Panas High School's Inter-Ethnic/United Nations Club met one of their club advisors, Mrs. Janet O'Toole, at the United Methodist Church in Peekskill to set up the dining room to feed about 180-plus homeless and needy people on Thanksgiving. Ridgewood Water Performs System Flushing; Discoloration Possible RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- Ridgewood Water is performing water system flushing on Routes 48 and 49 tonight (Wednesday), into tomorrow morning (Thursday). This work includes the operation of fire hydrants at flow velocities sufficient to remove naturally occurring minerals that have precipitated out of the water and settled. This may temporarily discolor the water; therefore, Ridgewood Water is conducting this activity late at night to minimize the effect on consumers. Little Fill's Causeway Road In Kent Reopens With Major Improvements KENT, N.Y. -- The path along Nichols Street in Kent currently known as Little Fill’s Causeway, but with the hope to rename it Veterans Memorial Causeway, was officially reopened with new paving and upright guardrails that should improve the safety of the road, according to a story in The Examiner News.The road was almost closed because of the past danger it posed to drivers, The Examiner News said.
