Irvington Athlete Wins Cross Country Championship, Qualifies For States IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- Irvington High School sophomore Luke Carmosino won the Section One Class C Cross Country Championship at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls. Carmosino crossed the finish line with a time of 16:44:9 in the Nov. 7 event, and, as a result, is moving on to the state championships, which will take place on Saturday at Monroe Woodbury High School. Walmart Pulls Back On Black Friday Walmart is remaking Black Friday by eliminating doorbusters as part of a strategy to make holiday shopping easier for customers, according to reports. The retailer will once again open its doors at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving, it announced Thursday on its website, but it won't be rolling out hourly deals on different items. Instead, it plans to simplify the frenzied shopping period by providing nearly all of its deals both online and in stores at once. Online deals will start at 12:01 a.m. Pacific time on Thanksgiving. Ox Ridge Elementary School In Darien Honors Veterans In Celebration DARIEN, Conn. -- Ox Ridge Elementary School in Darien honored veterans during a ceremony on Friday. It is the 19th year that Ox Ridge has held this celebration. The tradition started in 1996 with three veterans going to the kindergarten class of Rita Ferri, who is now principal of Hindley School. Nineteen years later it has grown into a program almost 10 times its original size. This year, 28 veterans were in attendance, their service ranging from World War II to the War on Terror (Iraq and Afghanistan). All branches of the military were also represented. Norwalk Teen Charged With Robbing Stamford Boy STAMFORD, Conn. — A Norwalk teen allegedly stole $169 from a Stamford boy who was waiting outside a Bedford Street shoe store in Stamford to buy a newly released sneaker, according to the Stamford Advocate. The 12-year-old Stamford boy told police that a teen approached him outside the store Tuesday morning, pushed him up against a wall and took his money, threatening to beat him up if he told anyone, according to the Stamford Advocate. Plant Bulbs At Lachat Town Farm's Family Daffodil Dig In Weston WESTON, Conn. -- Lachat Town Farm in Weston will have its first annual Family Daffodil Dig from 1-3 p.m. Saturday.
