Teens Celebrate Hispanic Heritage With Stratford Library Contest STRATFORD, Conn. -- The Stratford Library Teen Department celebrated “National Hispanic Heritage Month” recently with its annual Hispanic Heritage Essay & Art Contest.  Teen Department Head Lucretia Duwel reports that a total of 105 submissions came from students in grades 6-8 in Stratford public and private schools who took part in the contest. Tompkins Elementary School Students Learn About Hudson River CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- First-graders at Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School in Croton-On-Hudson recently took trips to Croton Point Park, where they tackled the school’s mission to be stewards of the Hudson River. “Our first-graders had the opportunity to seine the river, observe the tide and take the water temperature,” said teacher Patricia Lynch. “As a follow-up, they wrote about their experience by zooming in on a particular part of the trip.
