Trumbull Students To Hear From Marine Corps Hero In Veterans Day Ceremony TRUMBULL, Conn. - The public is invited to join the Trumbull Veterans’ Organization and the Trumbull Board of Education on Wednesday, Nov. 11, for Trumbull’s annual celebration of Veterans Day. Town Man Hired As New Police Chief In Newtown NEWTOWN, Conn. -- James Viadero, who is a college professor as well as chief of Middlebury’s police department, has been hired as chief of the Newtown Police Department, according to a story on newstimes.com. Nobel Prize Committee Member Mats Larsson Inspires Brewster Students BREWSTER, N.Y. -- Students at Brewster High School recently learned more about the Nobel Prize from Mats Larsson, a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and a professor of Physics at Stockholm University in Sweden, as he stopped by the school to speak with students about, “How to Win a Nobel Prize.” Larsson was a member of the 2013 Nobel committee that awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics and Chemistry. Sleepy Hollow Student Wins Acorda Scientific Excellence Award SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Sleepy Hollow High School senior Elizabeth Silver won the Acorda Scientific Excellence Award. The award, which was created to encourage young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, is given to one student each week during the school year. Irvington Students Get Green Thumb Caring For Crops At Middle School Garden IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- Irvington Middle School students are spending a lot of time taking care of the garden at their school.The fall crops at the Irvington Middle School garden have sprouted, and health teacher and Green Club adviser Luann Ricciardi said the garden’s radishes, lettuce and sugar snap peas have begun to grow.
