Concordia Places 11 Student-Athletes On Fall

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Eleven student athletes from Concordia College were named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's All-Academic Team for the fall 2015 season. Women's soccer team sophomores Astonia Carey, Haley Horn and Alejandra Marin were named for the first time. Junior Samantha Somers was recognized for a second time and senior Samantha Street received her firs CACC All-Academic award. Men's soccer juniors David McKenzie and James Walters were honored for the first time. Junior Ovan Oakley and senior Diego Escorcia were both named again after placing on the team last year. …

Committee Members Needed For Poughkeepsie's Parent University
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Poughkeepsie City School District's Parent and Community Engagement Task Force needs volunteers to assist with the planning of this spring's "Parent University." The task force will meet Jan. 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Jane Bolin Administration. Ideas are also welcome via email to ncherry@poughkeepsieschools.org. Parent University is a series of seminars and workships geared toward strengthening parental skills and offering support through the academic process.

Bethel Man Sentenced To Probation, Suspended Sentence
BETHEL, Conn. -- A Bethel man who had been charged with sexual assault was sentenced to five years of probation and a five year suspended sentence after pleading guilty to risk of injury to a minor, the News-Times reported. Marcello Austudillo, 24, was charged with first-degree sexual assault, third-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor and pleaded guilty following a deal with the state, according to the News-Times. Trumbull Police Investigate Mobil Station Burglary
TRUMBULL, Conn. -- The Trumbull Police Department is investigating a burglary at a local Mobil Service Center, according to Trumbull Times. Officers on the scene found a smashed front door window and packs of cigarettes scattered on the floor. Surveillance footage revealed two suspects removing the cash drawer and two racks of cigarettes, Trumbull Times reported.
