State Sen. Moore Hosting Community Meeting At Black Rock Library
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The Black Rock Branch Library will host a community meeting with State Sen. Marilyn Moore Saturday, Jan. 16. Moore represents Bridgeport, Trumbull and Monroe and is the majority whip, chair of human services and environment vice chair. The meeting takes place from 12:30 to 2:45 p.m.

Norwalk Community College Co-Founder From Redding Celebrates Anniversary
REDDING, Conn. -- Lea Mintz, a resident of Meadow Ridge in Redding, organized and hosted a dinner in celebration of the Norwalk Community College Foundation's 50th anniversary. A board member for life and co-founder of the college, Mintz has worked with the foundation since its inception on fundraising and numerous other projects. The Norwalk Community College Foundation was founded in 1965 and its goal is to raise $5 million over the next year to support students, faculty and college programs. Wappingers CSD Provides Update On School Start Time Survey
WAPPINGER, N.Y. -- Wappingers Central School District made a second attempt to send out a survey regarding the change in start times for the 2016-17 academic year on Jan. 7. A technical glitch in the SchoolMessenger program delayed the survey attempt scheduled for Jan. 6. In the glitch, any introductory audio WCSD recorded would not play. WCSD states that all survey responses are being recorded despite the glitch. If the date is incomplete as a result of the issue, a third survey will be conducted. Click here to read the update.

North Salem Improvement Society Plants Cherry Trees
NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Three new cherry trees now grace the front of 66 June Rd. due to the efforts of the North Salem Improvement Society and members of the highway department. “We expect a magnificent bloom next spring, so long as mother nature behaves itself and doesn’t extend spring through the winter,” said society president Cynthia Curtis. The location for the 12-foot trees is where North Salem's new meeting room, police station and court are now located. Cherry trees were removed due to drainage and underground utilities issues when conversion of North Salem's old highway garage began. …
