VALHALLA, N.Y. -- Maria Fareri Children's Hospital will host a symposium on pediatric health care on Jan. 9 at the Westchester Medical Center Campus in Valhalla. A multidisciplinary team of advanced pediatric health-care experts will discuss the diagnosis and management of childhood neurological concerns. Local children's health-care providers will receive an overview of the neurological problems frequently encountered in outpatient, urgent care and emergency room settings. Westchester Dog Will Be Grand Marshall At Event To Fight Cancer
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Abbie, a golden retriever therapy dog and cancer survivor from Somers, will serve as Grand Marshall for Bark for Life of Westchester on April 10. “Each year we elect a special dog to be our Grand Marshall and lead our walking event,” said Janis Castaldi of the American Cancer Society. “We are so proud that Abbie Einstein will fulfill that role in 2016." STAMFORD, Conn. -- End Allergies Together raised more than $100,000 at its inaugural event at the BLT Financial Centre in Stamford. Sheinelle Jones of NBC News' "Weekend Today" hosted the event, and "Today" host Willie Geist also was in attendance. The organization was co-founded by Kim Hall, of Stamford, and Elise Bates, of Fairfield, to raise money for research dedicated to food allergies. Medical Marijuana Dispensary Opens In Hudson Valley
HUDSON VALLEY, N.Y. -- Eight dispensaries opened when New York's medical marijuana program officially launched on Thursday, according to Time Warner Cable News. Etain LLC is producing marijuana for the Hudson Valley dispensary in Kingston. Five companies were approved to produce medical marijuana for a total of 20 dispensaries, Time Warner Cable News reported. Lawmakers passed the Compassionate Care Act 18 months ago to permit patients wife life-altering ailments to reduce pain using medical marijuana, Time Warner Cable News said. Police Seek Public's Help In ID'ing Skeletal Remains In Route 22 Cold Case
DOVER PLAINS, N.Y. -- New York State Police at Dover Plains are seeking the public's help in identifying skeletal remains found off Route 22. An investigation by the police determined that the remains, found in Amenia, belonged to an adult white male 5' 1/2" in height with possibly dark or graying hair and a 40 to 42 inch waist. He is possibly of South American descent.
