Danbury High Senior Takes Top Prize In International Debate Competition
DANBURY, Conn. -- Danbury High School senior Alexandra Prendergast recently won a first-place debate award at the Yale Model Government Europe event. Alexandra participated in the Budapest, Hungary event in November as a member of the All-American Model UN team. The team won Best Delegation for the second year in a row and competed against 34 international teams. Alexandra and seven other students from the team won best debate gavels. Yale Model Government Europe brings together top delegates around the world to experience both American and European committee styles.

New Canaan's Silver Hill Hospital Adds Program To Treat Eating Disorders
NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan will begin the only eating disorders program with inpatient and residential treatment options in the tri-state area this month. “Fifty percent of patients with eating disorders have another mental illness, or a dual disorder. NEW CASTLE, N.Y. -- Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit the Sunshine Children's Home and Rehab Center in New Castle on Dec. 20. Pound Ridge Garden Club Makes Swags, Wreaths For Town Street Posts
POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- The Pound Ridge Garden Club made more than 70 swags and many wreaths for the major signposts around town on Dec. 3. Long-time club member Jan Buckbee ordered and picked up evergreens, and the Civic Improvement Co-Chairs Joan Goldberg and Susan Lee order the bows and coordinate the activity. Led by Buckbee, Our Properties Committee organized the setting of tables and chairs to hold the greens. All members and associate members aided in making the swags and donating additional specialty greens. The club started the tradition of creating the evergreen swags in 1975.

HAZMAT Unit Contains Scarsdale Propane Leak
SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- A propane leak in a Scarsdale neighborhood yesterday was contained before it could become explosive and deadly. News 12 Hudson Valley reports that first responders received a call at around 10 a.m. from a contractor who smelled fumes from a propane tank at 136 Saxon Woods Road. Almost three dozen emergency personnel rushed to the scene to contain the leak. HAZMAT officials burned off the leaking fuel in the air after setting up a "burning tree." No injuries were reported. Newtown Man Accused Of Burglarizing, Vomiting in Darien Resident's Truck
DARIEN, Conn. -- Andrew Wood, 31, of Newtown is accused of burglarizing and vomiting in the Ford F150 of a Darien resident, reported the Darien Times. According to the Darien Times, police responded to a call from the owner of the truck after its alarm went off Dec. 13. Police arrived on the scene at around 3:30 a.m. and allegedly found Wood in the vehicle, the story said. Wood reportedly told officers he was trying to get home and wasn't attempting to steal the truck, adding it belonged to his boss and he was going to drive it home, the story said. POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Keegan Wilkinson, head coach for men's lacrosse at Marist College, was one of six finalists for the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division I Coach of the Year. After leading the Red Foxes to their most successful season ever this year, Wilkinson was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Marist went 6-0 in conference play and captured its second ever MAAC Championship.
