Bronxville Children's Halloween Festival Haunts Leonard Morange Park
BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- The Bronxville Chamber of Commerce's Halloween Festival will return Sunday at Leonard Morange Park. The park will become a country-style oasis with carnival rides, pony rides, live music, food, activities and more. Fabio's Hair Studio tent will offer hairstyles, colored hair spray, sparkles and makeup for $5. Children are encouraged to come in costume. The Bronxville Children's Halloween Festival is from noon to 4 p.m. Rain date is Oct. 25. Admission is free. Food tickets can be purchased at the event with cash only.

Abinanti Introduces Ban On Styrofoam Take-Home Containers
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- State Assemblyman Tom Abinanti (D-Greenburgh/Mount Pleasant) has introduced legislation to prohibit New York restaurants from using polystyrene "doggy bags." “Styrofoam causes significant harm to the environment and may be a health hazard,” said Abinanti, a member of the Assembly Environmental Conservation Committee. “We need a concerted state effort to reduce reliance on Styrofoam and encourage more environmentally-friendly alternatives.” Polystyrene containers often are used at restaurants to package leftovers. Fund Set Up For Bethel Boy With Rare Condition At Danbury Hospital
BETHEL, Conn. -- A crowdfunding page has been launched for a Bethel boy hospitalized with a rare condition. According to the Bethel Bulletin, Christopher Carreras-McLaughlin, 7, was taken to Danbury Hospital on Oct. 7 after he complained of a headache then began vomiting and became unresponsive. Christopher underwent emergency brain surgery for an arteriovenous malformation (AVM). The AVM burst and filled his brain with blood, and the subsequent pressure swelled the brain.
