YONKERS, N.Y. – Riverdale resident Josh Greenfield will read from his new book, "Homeward Bound" at the Yonkers Barnes and Noble on Oct. 17. Greenfield's latest novel continues the exploration of the human, humorous side of mental illness began in his debut, “The Obsessive Chronicles: a novel." Central character Jordan Fineman lives in the fictional town of Warren, which is loosely based on Riverdale, and is in the process of recovery. Weightlifting Event To Honor Late Greenwich Selectman Dave Theis
GREENWICH, Conn. -- A bench press competition in honor of the late Dave Theis will be held at Greenwich Point on Oct. 17. Theis was a second selectman of Greenwich and longtime enthusiast of the sport of weightlifting and supporter of powerlifting events at the Greenwich YMCA. This non-sanctioned competition harkens back to the bench press meets of the 1980s that featured competitive lifters from the tri-state area and Theis as master of ceremonies. Batman, Wonder Woman Visit Norwalk's Maritime Aquarium
NORWALK, Conn. -- Watch out, supervillains of Norwalk. Batman and Wonder Woman will visit the Maritime Aquarium on Saturday. “With this event just two weeks before Halloween, we encourage youngsters to wear their own superhero costumes when they come to meet Batman and Wonder Woman,” said Dave Sigworth, the Aquarium’s mere-mortal spokesman. Songs For Seeds Performing In Scarsdale
SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- The Scarsdale Recreation Department will present a free concert by Songs for Seeds Sunday at Chase Park Songs for Seeds was named "Best Music Class" by New York Magazine in 2010 for encouraging young children to sing, dance and play instruments along with a three-piece band. As previously reported, Songs for Seeds recently began hosting a music program for children ages newborn to 6 at Scarsdale Synagogue Temples Tremont and Emanu-El. The concert is from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

Former Jewish Spy Speaking In Tarrytown
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Former spy Marthe Cohn will speak about being a Jewish spy in Nazi territory during an Oct. 20 event at the Tarrytown DoubleTree. Cohn, a French Jew, posed as a nurse searching for her Nazi soldier boyfriend. She supplied the Allies with information about the abandoned Siegfried Line and a German trap. 'Evita' Opens The New Season At MTC MainStage In Norwalk
NORWALK, Conn. -- Music Theatre of Connecticut's MainStage will open the 2015-16 season with a production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Evita" on Friday, Oct. 16. EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- The College Board will only offer the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test to all sophomores and juniors during the school day on Oct. 14 at Eastchester High School. Man Charged With Threatening To Shoot Up Brookfield Church
BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- A 58-year-old Brookfield man was arrested on multiple charges after threatening to shoot up a Roman Catholic church during a Baptism, according to the News-Times website. John Ducanic was arrested on Oct. 10 and charged with first-degree criminal trespass, second-degree breach of peace and interfering with an officer, the News-Times reported.
