Registration Now Open For South Salem's Church Tavern Biathlon SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Registration is now open for the fifth annual Church Tavern Biathlon on Sept. 7 at 9:30 a.m. The biathlon consists of a seven-mile bike ride up Church Tavern Road and past Lake Truesdale and a four mile run. Church Tavern Biathlon gets its name from a former St. John's Episcopal Church building and Colonial era pub. Participants can compete individually or as two-person relay teams. The Epic Reads group for grades two and three will meet on July 23 at 3:30 p.m. at the Main Library to discuss "Princess in Black" by Shannon and Dean Hale.
