Danbury Library Kicks Off Summer Reading Program DANBURY, Conn. -- Danbury Library's annual Summer Reading Program kicks off June 22.  The seven-week program is for kids from pre-school through grade 12 and this year's theme "Every Hero Has a Story" will promote superheroes, as well as everyday heroes. Danbury Library has offered the program for more than 20 years as a way to encourage children and teens to maintain their current reading level during the summer months.  Kids will set their own weekly reading goals by the number of hours spent reading. Kids Summer Programs Available At YWCA Darien/Norwalk DARIEN, Conn. -- Registration is available for the Summer Fun program and arts and crafts workshop classes at the YWCA Darien/Norwalk. The Summer Fun program is a two hour drop-off enrichment program where toddlers will learn new songs, create art, play outside and make new friends. Turkish Cultural Center Observes Ramadan With Annual Dinners MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Turkish Cultural Center Westchester will host three different dinners in honor of Ramadan this year.  The first dinner is Thursday at Mamaroneck United Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m. On Tuesday, All Souls Parish will have a dinner at 7:30 p.m. and Temple Israel Center will host a dinner on June 25 at 7:30 p.m. The center hosts these dinners every year to educate the local community about the Muslim holiday, which spans from June 18 to July 16. Norwalk's Farm Creek Preserve Becomes Classroom NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Land Trust recently converted the Farm Creek Preserve into an outdoor classroom for 700 fourth-graders from 11 Norwalk public schools.  "The outings are the most rewarding thing I've done at this stage of my life," said tour guide Linda Scull in a press release. A volunteer from the Norwalk Land Trust, Scull is a retired realtor, nursery school teacher and cancer survivor. Scull formulated the excursions in 2011 with Marny Smith.
