GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich Polo Club's 2015 season opens June 7 with the Monty Waterbury Cup, which continues on June 14 and June 21. VALHALLA, N.Y. -- The Valhalla Memorial Day Parade begins at 9:30 a.m. Monday on Westlake Drive. The parade will proceed south on Columbus Avenue. Village Green will host a ceremony at 10 a.m. After the parade and ceremony, the Valhalla American Legion Post 1038 will serve ice cream, hot dogs and refreshments.

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Nine middle and high school students will bring "The Adventures of Tom Sawer" to life in a series of pop-up performances for New Rochelle's 2015 Big Read. The first presentation by the Big Read Reader's Theater Troupe will be a site reading at 7:30 p.m. June 2 at Trinity-St. Paul’s Church Cemetery. CARMEL, N.Y. -- Putnam Hospital Center has performed several MAKOplasty® partial knee replacements using RIO®. The public can learn more about the robotic system at the center's Meet the RIO® event from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 5. The RIO® system uses a surgeon-controlled robotic arm to make smaller incisions that result in faster recovery times for patients. It also can be used for total hip replacements. DARIEN, Conn. — Darien Library is hosting a pair of gardening workshops featuring master gardener Susie. On May 26 at 10 a.m., Wake Up the Library Garden will inform gardeners on how to wake up their gardens following a long winter. The Edible Garden Workshop on May 28 at 10 a.m. will inform patrons on soil maintenance, pest control and transplanting in a hands-on class. Both workshops are open to all ages. College of New Rochelle Celebrates 2015 Commencement
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The College of New Rochelle (CNR) held its 108th annual commencement at the Beacon Theater in Manhattan on Tuesday. More than 600 baccalaureate and more than 200 master's degrees were awarded to the graduates of its four schools. Special honors were awarded to Ellen Mooney Hancock and Lillian Roberts during commencement. Hancock is a CNR graduate and received an honorary doctor of humane letters for being a nationally recognized leader in technology. Hancock's career began at IBM where she worked for 29 years and became the first female senior vice president in 1992. …
