Presented by Speak Your Truth, a collection of Thomas' work titled Spring Awakenings will be exhibited on May 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hastings Station Cafe. During her art-creating exercise, Thomas sculpted letters out of tissue, dyed them and applied them to canvas without adhesive. Edgemont High National Chess Champions Honored WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Edgemont High School's national ninth-grade chess championship team was welcomed and honored by Westchester County Legislator MaryJane Shimsky, D-Hastings-n-Hudson, during the county Board of Legislators' meeting on Monday. Students Alexander Crump, William Graif and Victor Lue each played seven rounds of chess over three days to win the National Scholastic K-12 Grade Chess Championships during the United States Chess Federation event in Orlando, Fla.

Children Invited To Ridgefield Kids Duathlon RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- The second annual Ridgefield Kids Duathlon takes place on June 14 and children between the ages of 4 to 15 are invited to participate. The event consists of a run-bike-run sequence and the course will be closed to cars. Participants will be grouped by age: 4 to 6; 7 to 10; and 11 to 14. All participants will be professionally timed with posted results and receive a race t-shirt. The duathlon will be held at the Recreation Center campus, 195 Danbury Road.
