Treasured Mount Vernon Pizza Maker Joseph Piscopo Dies At 77 MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- A beloved local pizza icon and backbone of the Mount Vernon business community died suddenly last week.  Joseph Piscopo, of Mount Vernon, owner of Johnny's Pizzeria, was 77 when he died Aug. 15. Piscopo's legacy is not only his family, but the pizza business his father started 74 years ago.
